The Observatory Hotel awarded first place in the UK’s ULTRA Travel Awards
Announced in London this week, the Daily Telegraph UK has named winners of the ULTRA Awards (the Ultimate Luxury Travel Related Awards). Based on the responses of 10,000 Telegraph readers, the awards are published in Utratravel Magazine, the Telegraph’s quarterly magazine highlighting unique travel experiences.
Promoting itself as a guide to ‘Heaven on Earth’ - this year’s ULTRA Awards recognised Sydney’s Observatory Hotel, awarding the property first place in the Australasian Hotel category.
Of the awards, the Telegraph wrote, “Ultratravel 100, a list of everything that is excellent in modern travel…. Overall, the results of our first Ultratravel readers’ poll are an affirmation of this magazine’s founding principles – that our readers are experienced, knowledgeable travellers who are prepared to pay top dollar for a truly excellent luxury travel experience.”
General Manager of The Observatory Hotel since it’s inception in 1993, Mr Patrick Griffin was delighted to receive the accolades, a particularly special award considering The Observatory, who are passionate about providing memorable stays for their guests, was selected via a reader’s poll.
Other Orient-Express Hotels to be named in the awards included the Westcliff and Mount Nelson in South Africa; Copacabana Palace in Rio; and Sanctuary Lodge in Machu Picchu.
