Shopping

Sydney boasts world class shopping. From the exclusive designer shops of Castlereagh Street and Martin Place to the brand new Westfield Sydney shopping mall which opened in October 2010, Sydney really does have something for everyone.

Browsing through the many magnificent, historic and modern shopping venues, boutique stores and arcades filled with the latest fashions and must-have accessories is the perfect way to pass a Sydney afternoon.

Sydney’s two main department stores, Myer and David Jones, both located in the Pitt Street mall area (as well as a multitude of suburban locations) have every conceivable item available under one roof.

Shopping on the fringes of the city presents an opportunity for pleasant walks in a cosmopolitan setting, a browse in an art gallery or a bookshop, an indulgence in one of the many stylish boutiques, or coffee at an outdoor café while making final choices.

Westfield Bondi Junction is also worth a trip and is only a short train, bus or taxi ride from the Sydney CBD.

Shopping hours in Sydney are generally as follows:

Monday to Wednesday, and Friday: 9:00 am to 5:30pm.
Thursday: 9:00 am to 9:00pm.
Saturday: 9:00 am to 5:00pm.
Sunday: 9:00 am to 5:00pm.

Don’t miss the beautiful Strand Arcade and the Queen Victoria Building in the heart of the Sydney CBD.
